Biography
My musical approach on bass is started when I bought my first bass, an Aria Pro 2, at the end of 80's. A good instrument for a beginner. At that time I was interesting in studying some tracks of The Police as e.g. "So Lonley" and "Man in a suitecase".
My first time on an important stage after this first time of study, was at Emergenza Rock, at the beginning of 90's, with a band which played a cover from "The Rocky Horror Picture show".
Studying and hearing new music styles I went to 70's Progressive music, in particular thanks to bands like YES, King Crimson and Emerson Lake & Palmer. So I cooperated with a jazz-fusion band, the Oltrequando, with a huge repertoire made up of covers and own tracks.
Thanks to this experience I went definitively to jazz and jazz-fusion style. In the same period I began to play also with another band, the Anno Zero (my brother Piero Orlando - guitar, Fabio Palmieri - guitar, Davide Caldiero - voice, Massimo Evangelista first and Francesco Amendolia then, on drums) a sperimental project with own tracks, which had its highest activity partecipating at the "Memorial Demetrio Stratos" (Alberone di Cento)and winning the 3rd prize.
Paralleling at these projects, I collaborated with other more commercial bands (Pop Rock, Alternative Rock), like the Dharma-One with which I partecipated at the Massenzio Concerts Event.
So jazz-fusion, Pop-Rock, Sperimental-music, a good wide training for everyone. On the ashes of Anno Zero, which was over in the meanwhile, another band was created: the Anthea, an ensamble with Piero Orlando, Fabio palmieri, Davide Caldiero, a project with an aim absolutely based on the total improvisation characterized by live registrations and with sonorities near King Crimson and Philiph Glass.
So we're arrived at nowadays. In 2006 togheter with Piergiorgio Lucidi e Michele Benigna I create the Lob Tech Tones, a jazz-fusion trio, with a repertory based on covers of Tribal tech (Nite Club, Spears,...) and jazz standards.
With Lob I've performed at:
- Jazz for Holiday 2007 (San Nicola d'Arcella)
- Jazz for Holiday 2008
- Jazz-id Area 2008 (Rieti) where we won the "Petagramma Circolare".
- Roma Rock Festival 2008
and in a series of events and concerts in the clubs of Rome. In the ending period, after some collaborations, at drums finally arrives Pino Liberti and Lucia Palumbo at voice.
At the same time I started to play with Beta Elements (Piero Orlando - guitar, Gulia Tripoti - voice, Salvatore Natali - drums), a band based on a Progressive style as King Crimson with ethnic and jazz-fusion contaminations. Among concerts and events, we remember "Donami Le Ali" at "Classico Village", a night dedicated to the newspaper and media freedom, which saw on the same stage guests like Maria Pia De Vito and Moni Ovadia.
In this flourished period I began to cooperate with Kingcrow recording one track in thier album "Timetropia" and starting on its tournée "Timetropia 2008" in the most importants clubs and Festivals in Italy, like The Gods Of Metal 2008, as supporting bands of Iron Maiden...
Untill the new recording sections for the creation of the new album "Phlegeton" (out May 2010), which mixes Heavy sounds with more rhythmic and harmonic ideas on a Rush style.
